Located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, Gobo Upstairs Lounge & Grill has recently introduced a new menu to excite the palates of frequenters and epicureans. Each dish comes with a wine pairing recommendation for a complete immersion in contemporary fusion gastronomy.
The dishes showcased during the tasting preview were prepared by Chef Mun and the complementing wines were sourced from Chilean's Viña Maipo:

with toasted walnut and feta cheese
To ready our appetite for a 7-course line-up, we began with the Honey Roasted Beetroot as amuse bouche, which offered us a quick glimpse into Chef Mun's art of cuisine.

salmon crab cake / crispy prawn on durian mayo / balsamic tuna
Gobo's signature cold and hot platters are a feast for the eyes.
For the cold platter, the brilliantly seasoned mackerel tartare stood out. The vodka-cured salmon, on the hand, is too ambitiously named as the whiff of vodka is faint - masked mostly by other components that, in my opinion, are better off served apart in order to preserve the delicate taste of the fish. The hot platter is enjoyable, but many agreed that it would be even better sans durian mayo - a taste highly capable of impairing the appetition built so far.
lobster ragout / tarragon cream / brandy
I still dream of this incredibly rich soup until today. Gloriously thickened to a perfect extent, the flavor from the lobster emerges in every sip.

Delicate flakes and subtle dressings for a light and easy main course.
|Grilled Lamb Loin|
with arancini, broccoli and porcini sauce
A meaty main course which has been thoughtfully proportioned, this dish consists of medium rare lamb on luscious mushroom sauce. The arancini, which is an Italian-style savory fried rice ball - makes a great bonus.
with mashed potato and buttered vegetables
The Wagyu Tomahawk was the star of the day. It was paraded and carved in front of captivated guests before being served on platters in ready-to-eat form.

I had a lovely dining experience at Gobo Upstairs Lounge & Grill. The space is tastefully illuminated with chic hues and pleasing tunes, while the broad vertical windows provide an unobstructed view of KLCC and the encircling skyscrapers.
