Endau Rompin National Park Activities

Endau Rompin National Park is the largest protected area in Peninsular Malaysia's southern half. This ancient rainforest realm in the state of Johor is a biodiversity hotspot. It is also the key habitat for the survival of globally threatened megafauna, such as the Malayan Tigers, long-tail macaques, Malayan Tapirs, and Asian Elephants.

The park has two official entry points which are the Peta gate on the park's eastern boundary in the district of Mersing, and the Selai entrance on the park's southwestern boundary in the district of Segamat. It also can be entered from Pahang through Kuala Rompin. Be noted that the activities available vary according to your entry point.

Camping & Accommodation

Endau Rompin has several camping sites such as the Lubuk Merekek, which entrance fee is priced at RM5 per adult and RM10 for non-Malaysian visitors. Malaysian students are only required to pay a discounted fee of RM3. Other popular campsites here are located at Batu Hampar, Kuala Marong, Kuala Jasin and Pantai Burung. They are equipped with basic facilities such as toilets, bathrooms and cooking area.

On top of that, there are also offers dormitory and chalets with affordable rates starting from RM100. As there is no air conditioning, it is crucial to bring mosquito netting with you, as well as an adequate supply of mosquito repellent. 


Hiking & Jungle Trekking

The national park features many jungle treks which measure up to a total of 26 kilometres in length. The most popular trail is a 16-kilometre trip from the base camp at Kuala Jasin to Batu Hampar and Buaya Sangkut, with multiple river crossings. There are a number of campsites that allow direct access to a variety of easy and challenging treks. Every step and turn is an adventure when you explore one of the oldest and most pristine rainforests in the world!

Waterfalls & Tours

There are several waterfalls found within the Endau Rompin National Park - one of them being Takah Pandan. It is a beautiful vertical waterfall that reaches a dramatic height of approximately 50 meters. It takes around an hour of trekking from the Selai Base Camp to reach Takah Pandan at Lupuk Tapah. The trail is moderately difficult as it brings adventurers across steep riverbanks.

Upih Guling Falls, which is named after an Orang Asli folklore, is a must-visit destination for an unforgettable swim. You will discover natural "bathtubs" here, made from ancient volcanic rocks. There is also the Buaya Sangkut Falls, which is a five-tiered waterfall which can be reached by a six-hour hike starting from the Visitors Control Centre along Sungai Jasin. From a 120-metre plunge, the 40-metre-wide fall gushes a million gallons of thunderous water in just a minute.

If you are looking for an ideal spot for a picnic, you may head to the Seri Mahkota Waterfalls instead.

Orang Asli Village

Endau-Rompin is the home to the Jakun tribe of Orang Asli. You can visit Kampung Peta, which is close to the park's entrance. You will have the opportunity to learn about the Orang Asli history and tradition such as how they hunted and survived in the wilderness or protected themselves from danger while living in the dense jungle.


Best Time to Visit Endau-Rompin

The national park is open from April to October, but it is closed during the monsoon season from November to March. During these monsoon months, nearby islands such as the Perhentian, Redang, and Tioman are also inaccessible.


How to Get to Endau Rompin National Park

You can drive to the Endau Rompin National Park from Kuala Lumpur via the North-South Expressway, which will take approximately 5 hours. Once you have arrived in Johor Bahru, take the exit to Yong Peng, Chaah, or Bekok. You may also opt for public transportation such as the KTM train from Johor Bharu or Kuala Lumpur to Bekok. Alternatively, you can also arrive at the national park by taking an express bus from Johor Bharu or Kuala Lumpur to Yong Peng or Segamat, then a taxi or local bus to Pekan Bekok.

  5. Menariknya tempat ni. Suka lokasi yang ada semua keperluan dan aktiviti. Chalet, air terjun, nature dan animal. Mesti food pun sedap-sedap. Hehehe.
