Gunung Mulu Height

Gunung Mulu is the second-highest mountain in Sarawak after Gunung Murud. Located in Miri, Gunung Mulu National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that surrounds a towering equatorial rainforest landscape with caverns and karst formations. The park is well-known for its caves, and many adventurers have come to explore them and the surrounding forest.

Although Gunung Mulu is often associated with caves, there is a wealth of things to see and do above ground. You can find a wide variety of outdoor activities here within the lush rainforest. Excellent mountain and rainforest climbs are available, including the strenuous trek to see the Pinnacles.

The Pinnacles

Measuring 45 meter high, the Pinnacles trail is a challenging ascent. Due to the fact that the climb is a high-risk and extreme activity, the Gunung Mulu National Park only offers it as a three-day, two-night excursion to properly prepare the climbers both mentally and physically. If you are scared of heights, we advise you to skip this one. Also, please be mindful that you must have a licensed guide you in your quest to conquer the razor-sharp Pinnacles.

Tour Package Price: Approximately RM443 including a guide, accommodations for two nights, and a long boat ride back.

Deer Cave

There are as many as two to three million bats from 12 different species that live in Deer Cave. They cling to the roof in a raging black mass as they prepare for their night-time patrol. It takes 3 kilometers of walk through the rainforest to reach this cave. You are advised to bring along a poncho, non-slip shoes, insect repellent, and, of course, a torchlight to ease your journey.

Tour Package Price: Approximately RM35 per person, including guide fees.

Sarawak Chamber

Sarawak Chamber is widely known as the world's biggest subterranean chamber, measuring 600 meters by 415 meters with a height of 80 meters. Even for the most seasoned cavers, the adventure through the Sarawak Chamber is exceptionally hard and requires a mandatory one-night stay at Camp 1. Another thing to take note of is that you will also be required to swim as you traverse along a ledge.

Clearwater Cave

Clearwater Cave is known to be one of the world's largest cave systems, featuring an underground river. It is advised that you show respect by not disturbing the rock formations because the locals originally interred the dead there. With 110 kilometers of documented and studied passages, the Clearwater Cave System holds the world record for being the longest cave in the whole of Asia. You must board a traditional longboat in order to arrive at the Clearwater Caves.

Bat Exodus

You must traverse approximately 3.8 kilometers of dense forest and winding rivers on an elevated plank walkway to catch the bat exodus. The trip to the bat observatory region will take about 45 minutes. Most evenings, between 17:30 and 18:30, the bats exit the cave; but, on rare occasions, they do not leave at all. Each bat is thought to eat up to ten grams of insects each night. As a result, 3 million bats will return in the morning to leave a significant amount of guano in the cave and create a distinctive ecosystem that will serve as a haven for millions of insects and the predators that live there.
